Pressure!
If you’re starting to feel pressure on what career you should pursue and what college you should go to you are not alone. Just remember, this is about you, your life, and your ultimate happiness and remember you have options. One option is that you go to a community college of your choice for the first two years. You can use the first two years to take the basic required classes that you will need in a four-year school. This will save you thousands of dollars and you may still graduate from the four-year college of your choice. The exceptions to this is that some private schools do not accept classes taken at a community college and some out-of-state schools will not accept classes from the community college as well. So do your research on the school that you think that you would like to attend and see if they accept classes from your community college. Your other option is to go to the college of your choice taking the basic classes that you will need the first two years and research the path you are considering on taking. Get permission to sit in on one of the classes, talk to the professors, talk to the students that are pursuing that career, and talk to people that are in that career.

Rust
As we experience life we are presented with challenges. People usually manifest those challenges and unfortunately some of these people have their own view of how it should be regardless of other people’s well being. They will go to great lengths in proving that they are right and justified in what they are doing and covering up their own inabilities to adapt to the truth. Some people do not adapt to new ideas and continue the old even if it’s proven wrong. Their motto is: “it has worked for me for 20 years and I am not going to change now.” I call this RUST! If you look around you will see this rust. They will hire people who think, talk, walk, and agree with their views. When these people see new ideas that work better they will avoid them at all cost. Rust is associated with decay, ruin, and neglect.
I am devoting several chapters in my book where rust has been found in our educational system and it continues to date.

So you sit in front of the TV playing games all day!
So your kid sit in front on the computer or TV playing games all day, what are they going to do for a job? North Carolina has 40 major companies that use game designers, developers, programmers, artist, film production, studio set builders, and a bunch of other linking professionals. NC State is one of the top game development schools. It comes under the engineering and computer courses. There are 8 community colleges that offer game development.
The jobs that have surfaced over that last few years are worthy of a look. One was from Indeed.com: “need game designer with two years of experiences in C, C +, and design: starting pay is $90,000 to $110,000.” The best job was working on a cruise line for $180,000 a year.
Some of the skills that are needed are math, being able to think outside the box, creative and cognitive skills, and a personality past sitting on the couch, asking what if, not, I cannot do it, working as a team, and the ability to listen and glean ideas from others.
Do your research now. Find the companies that are in NC and see what they want and need. Learn the schools that offer the programs and classes you want and do not get in a trap! Look at the schools and make sure your courses will be accepted by the school you will target, if not go back to your couch! http://www.csc.ncsu.edu/academics/undergrad/bs-csc-gdc.php
